ARE YOU OKAY?
Aging in America There were days I just wished someone anyone would call and simply ask, “Are you okay?”
Nobody did.
I was an entrepreneur, chasing a vision and tending to staff. But beneath the hustle, my world was singular: my mother. My Golden Girl. My best friend.
She was navigating dementia, and I was determined she would not face it alone.
Every morning was a juggling act: making sure she was in safe hands while I worked, and wondering whether either of us would be okay that day. There were voices telling me to give up. I chose to stand on the frontline for her, just as she would have done for me.
Today, on the first episode of AGING IN AMERICA, I’m telling that story in my own voice. Not the polished version. The real one.
I’m sharing it because I’m not alone. More than 63 million Americans nearly one in four adults are family caregivers, according to AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving. Many are quietly asking the same question I did: Is anyone coming?
This episode is for them. And for anyone who loves them.
